Living differently.

Somebody told me to do things differently to make my life interesting. So, the stupid me asked, “Well, where do I start?!” The intelligent guy said, “Right from the moment you wake up!” Inspirational.

I became a monk. Concentrated yet mysterious. Well, there was nothing to change in the way I wake up, quite frankly. I always wake up in a different pose every day. Today I woke up facedown into my pillow with my feet on my laptop’s keyboard. Thank God I had it shut down last night.

Back to the topic though, I had taken the wise man’s advice really seriously and I had to bring change to my life right away. Right from breakfast. There was a packet of biscuit in front of me. How do I make a difference with it? Aha! Eat them differently. Each and every one of them!

I tore open the wrapping, took the first biscuit and started nibbling from the sides, in a circular pattern, taking real care not to eat more than an inch from around the biscuit. Was hard work though. I pardoned myself for a couple of mistakes but the biscuit was still round with a smaller circumference. I held it up across my face, examined it in front of the sun, and was so happy with my achievement that tears filled my eyes and I didn’t stop them! Ah, the feeling of eating a biscuit differently! The guy was right!

The next biscuit beckoned. I am a legend, I told myself. My next aim at different biscuit munching was to nibble out everything else other than the logo of the biscuit brand. Challenge accepted. I chalked out my approach. My line of attack. I carefully aligned my teeth and started nibbling from the top of the biscuit. I stopped just in the nick of time when I reached the top of the alphabets of the biscuit company. Whew! It was a close call! Demanding better concentration from myself, I proceeded to the lower part. This was harder than I expected. Due to the uneven rectangular shape the biscuit had acquired due to my nibbling off of the top parts, it was threatening to be snapped into half. I couldn’t allow that to happen!

Therefore, I made a change in plan and started the approach from the right side of the biscuit. My plan was paying off. This resulted in a more equalized pressure on the biscuit and more importantly, it didn’t break. I continued till I touched the end of the company logo. Half job done.

The pressure was intense. Only two sides were left now. This was gonna be a close call. I took a power nap to calm myself. Rejuvenated after the nap, I took to task the lower portion of the biscuit. I began nibbling again. The pressure was intense. Due to the rectangular nature of the logo, there was going to be more pressure on the vertical of the biscuit-logo than the horizontal. This made it a tightrope walk. A mistake here and all the hard work would yield nothing. I couldn’t give it up now.

I took out the sides from the lower portion first. The remaining triangle stuck up like a devil from hell. As if challenging me to take it all in a single bite. But I had to keep my composure. I can’t let it manipulate me. I have to take it slow. Slowly, I nibbled through the remaining lower portion and there it was! I made it through!! Only the left side was left.

Can’t commit a mistake now. Not when I am so close. My destiny was in sight. I reminded myself of my family. I have to do this for Mom and Dad. I closed my eyes and remembered their faces. I made a mental note of how they will be proud if I accomplish this. Come on!

I started with the left side. A sudden burst of wind almost took the balance out of me and almost made me bite into the first starting letter of the logo. But I managed to keep my teeth away in the nick of time. I almost made a mistake. More determined, I closed the window and continued. Only an inch was left. A couple of bites more….one bite….and I have done it! There it was! My award! A Full-shaped logo of the biscuit-maker, without any extra biscuits on the sides!

I stood up and held my biscuit high. I proved it to those who doubted me. I have indeed achieved a remarkable feat! This is how you do things differently. I thank you wise man for the advice. I will keep sharing my coming different feats. Life’s calling.
